Maharashtra Politics: Eknath Shinde has resigned from the post of Chief Minister. After Mahayuti getting a huge majority, all three parties of the alliance are elated. Out of 288 seats in the Assembly, BJP has single-handedly won 132 seats. In such a situation, it is also considered certain that the Chief Minister will be from BJP. If sources are to be believed, the name of the Chief Minister has also almost been decided in the BJP-led Mahayuti alliance. Consensus has been reached in BJP on the name of Devendra Fadnavis!
It is being told that BJP has the support of Ajit Pawar, hence there is no problem of any kind in forming the government.
It was not easy to stamp Fadnavis’ name
BJP wanted to make its Chief Minister, but it was not easy for it to select him. But ultimately he had to stamp the name of Devendra Fadnavis! Let us tell you that it was not so easy for BJP to approve the name of Devendra Fadnavis because he is a Brahmin and looking at the kind of politics going on today, his being a Brahmin was becoming a big obstacle in becoming the Chief Minister. Not only this, there were many differences in Maharashtra BJP regarding him, but even after all this, why did Devendra Fadnavis become a helplessness of BJP. It is important to know why PM Modi and Amit Shah have to make Fadnavis the Chief Minister of Maharashtra! Actually, there are many strong plus points with Devendra Fadnavis which are overshadowing even his opponents.
The questions being raised here are, what is there in Devendra Fadnavis that BJP is not able to withdraw his name? Let us tell you that there are not just one but many reasons due to which BJP cannot ignore Fadnavis. So let us know what is the reason…
Played a big role in breaking Shiv Sena and NCP
Devendra Fadnavis is a big name in Maharashtra politics. He is emerging as the new Chanakya in the state politics. When after the 2019 assembly elections, Shiv Sena was adamant on making BJP its Chief Minister, betraying it, then Fadnavis did what hardly anyone could have imagined. Fadnavis pulled his nephew Ajit Pawar from the clutches of BJP’s rival Sharad Pawar. It is a different matter that Ajit Pawar could not bring his party’s MLAs with him and the game was over within 80 hours. Fadnavis’s government fell but Fadnavis did not accept defeat and continued. Not only this, BJP could do the work of dividing NCP and Shiv Sena in the state only on the strength of Fadnavis. Not only this, Fadnavis also had to hear abuses after the breakup of Shiv Sena and then NCP. After this, everyone from Uddhav Thackeray to Manoj Jarange had even threatened Fadnavis to end his political career and Sharad Pawar had even reached out to his caste. But this had no effect on Fadnavis and he did not give up. He was not only successful in taking BJP out of that difficult phase but also prepared a strategy to bring it back to the chair.
Bihar and MP model will not work in Maharashtra
The model of Bihar and Madhya Pradesh will not work in Maharashtra. Here, one argument being given for cutting Devendra Fadnavis is the Bihar model, where even after JDU got less seats in the assembly elections, BJP has been making Nitish Kumar the CM, playing the role of elder brother. Not only this, regarding Fadnavis being a Brahmin, it is also being argued that keeping in mind the backward class politics, a leader from a backward caste should be made the Chief Minister in Maharashtra like Madhya Pradesh. Anyway, nowadays in BJP, the name of the Chief Minister is stamped by a person whom neither anyone knows nor has any possibility of him becoming the CM. Only such people were appointed to the post of Chief Minister of Gujarat, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh etc. about whom even they themselves would not have thought. But the case of Maharashtra is different from all these. Here 6 parties contested the elections and about 3 parties have got majority. BJP knows very well that if any one of them becomes dissatisfied then a new equation can start forming immediately. This is the reason why Bharatiya Janata Party in Maharashtra forgets social engineering and wants to make Devendra Fadnavis the Chief Minister. Because Fadnavis is the only face here whose sources are present in all the parties and who has the power to run the government by using all means irrespective of cost or punishment.
Responsibility assigned to hold maximum number of rallies
Bharatiya Janata Party knows very well the stature and popularity of Devendra Fadnavis in Maharashtra. This was the reason why the party gave him the right to hold maximum rallies and meetings in this assembly elections. If there was talk of people being unhappy with him being a Brahmin or with his tenure, the top leadership would not have made him the main face of the party in Maharashtra and campaigned for it. Devendra Fadnavis held more rallies and meetings in this assembly election than big party leaders PM Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah. In such a situation, BJP also knows very well that if Fadnavis is sidelined and someone else is made the Chief Minister, then dissatisfaction within the party will not only increase but many MLAs may also change sides.
Trust worthy of both Sangh and BJP
Fadnavis is trusted by both RSS and BJP. This is after the defeat in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections when Fadnavis had offered to resign from his post, taking moral responsibility. But the way the Sangh came forward in his support and requested him to continue in the post was different in itself. The meeting was held at Fadnavis’s house in the presence of RSS and BJP president Chandrashekar Bawankule. After this, Bawankule told reporters that the party has requested Fadnavis to continue in his post.
Everyone knows that the Sangh has also played a big role in the massive victory that Mahayuti has got in the assembly elections. Devendra Fadnavis is the leader who has expressed confidence in the Sangh every time. Along with this, Fadnavis is the leader on whom even PM Narendra Modi and the Home Minister blindly trust.
Skilled administrator and ability to keep an organization organized
Maharashtra is the financial capital of India. 13 percent of the country’s GDP comes from Maharashtra alone. Even today, the highest foreign direct investment in the country comes to this state. If we talk about this year’s figures only, Maharashtra has been at the top in bringing foreign direct investment in the first quarter. Not only this, Devendra Fadnavis has been the Chief Minister for five years from 2014 to 2019. He has also made his mark as an administrator. At the same time, PM’s most ambitious Ahmedabad-Mumbai bullet train project is yet to be completed in Maharashtra. Along with this, the PM’s path to creating a 5 trillion dollar economy also passes through this Maharashtra only. Therefore, making an experienced leader like Devendra Fadnavis the Chief Minister is not only a compulsion of the Bharatiya Janata Party but also a need of the hour.
