Nagpur, April 20 (IANS). The Maharashtra government has taken an important step towards women empowerment. In a grand event held on Sunday in Nagpur, the Chief Minister of the state Devendra Fadnavis distributed 50 e-rickshaws among the women.
Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis was also present on the occasion along with Women and Child Welfare Minister Aditi Tatkare and Minister of State Meghna Boarder. After the program, the Chief Minister also made a round in an e-rickshaw. A total of 2000 e-rickshaws will be distributed in Nagpur under this scheme, which was started today.
In the first phase, 50 rickshaws have been done with distribution. The aim of the government is to get women’s means of employment through this scheme and they can strengthen the economic condition of their family.
Women and Child Development Minister Aditi Sunil Tatkare in the Maharashtra government said that Pink e-rickshaw initiative is being started for the benefit of women. It was inaugurated in the presence of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. These pink e-rickshaws are being provided for women. Today, at its first inauguration ceremony, our popular Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Minister of State Meghna Tai, local MLA Ashish ji, Secretary of our department and commissioner, all together made the program successful.
He further said that we are very happy that the pink e-rickshaw scheme, which was earlier started by the Mayawati government- had a good impact on the society. Today, in the first phase, in the next three-four months, about four to five thousand women will be seen running pink e-rickshaws.
