Maharashtra Election: After the victory of Bharatiya Janata Party in Haryana Assembly elections, now Maharashtra Government has taken a big decision on Thursday. Just before the Maharashtra elections, CM Eknath Shinde has decided to request the Central Government to increase the income limit of non-creamy layer from Rs 8 lakh to Rs 15 lakh to appease the OBC category. Let us tell you that before the Haryana elections, CM Nayab Singh Saini had increased the income limit of the creamy layer from Rs 6 lakh to Rs 8 lakh. It is believed that this step of Saini government played an important role in getting SC and OBC votes to BJP in Haryana elections.
The Maharashtra government also approved an ordinance to give constitutional status to the State Scheduled Castes Commission. This ordinance is set to be introduced in the next legislative session. There will be 27 sanctioned posts in this commission. At the same time, the government has decided to request the Central Government to increase the income limit of OBC non-creamy layer from Rs 8 lakh to Rs 15 lakh. OBC voters can be attracted by this step of the government. Discussions will be held with the Central Government to implement this change.
They can also get benefits
Actually, to get the benefit of reservation for Other Backward Class (OBC) people, the family income should be less than the prescribed limit. Increasing the income limit will benefit more and more people from the OBC community. This benefit can also be availed by those who belong to the families of government employees and have low income.
Effort to restore confidence among OBC voters
Let us tell you that Marathas were included in the OBC quota in Maharashtra. Due to this, BJP had to suffer loss in the last elections. Confidence among OBC voters can be restored by increasing the income limit of OBC non-creamy layer. That is why the Maharashtra government is talking about taking such a step just before the elections and giving priority to the interests of the OBC category.
