New Delhi, Sep 11 (IANS) Major General (Retd) PC Kharbanda on Wednesday joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). After joining the party in the presence of Union Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Hardeep Singh Puri, he said that positive changes have taken place in the country during the tenure of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and impressed by his work, he has decided to join the BJP.
In an exclusive interview with IANS, the former army officer said, “I served the country for 40 years in the army, but after retirement I was very saddened to see the current state of the country. After 2014, when Prime Minister Narendra Modi took over the reins of power, I personally felt that positive changes are being seen on a large scale in the country.”
He said, “After 2014, I myself saw that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the country is witnessing a massive change. There is a wave of development all around. To tell you the truth, I have decided to join the BJP after being impressed by the working style of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.” He said that he will serve the country by joining the BJP.
Kharbanda, who has entered politics, also targeted the statements made by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi in the US. He said, “If people believe what Rahul Gandhi says, then they will be in danger. He has no hesitation in lying. When he goes abroad and defames his own country, it feels very bad. Rahul Gandhi is saying that China has occupied India’s land. Just ask him who was in power from 1947 to 2014 and during whose time this land was taken away. All this is just talk, to set a wrong narrative, nothing else.”
It is worth mentioning that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had recently started the BJP membership drive which runs every six years for fresh membership. Many people have joined the party under this drive so far.
Today, 19 dignitaries including Major General Kharbanda joined the BJP in the presence of Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri.
