Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, former president Rahul Gandhi and several party leaders paid tribute to former Deputy Prime Minister Babu Jagjivan Ram on Saturday.
During this time, many other prominent leaders including Jagjivan Ram’s daughter and former Lok Sabha Speaker Meera Kumar were present there. During this time, Sarva Dharma Sabha was also organized there in which people of different classes participated.
Kharge said, “On the occasion of great freedom fighter, pioneer of social justice and former Deputy Prime Minister Babu Jagjivan Ram Ji on Samata Day, the great tribute to him on the birth anniversary of Babu Jagjivan Ram Ji. The superintendent of parity, Babu ji struggled with the weak, exploited and upliftment of the society, and the imprisonment for the upliftment of the backward classes and made an indescribable contribution to the strength of parliamentary democracy.
Rahul Gandhi said, “Babu Jagjivan Ram’s birth anniversary salute him. Babuji dedicated his entire life to the rights of the underprivileged, exploited and Dalits. He strengthened their rights and participation and strengthened the country’s democratic and constitutional values by strengthening their rights and participation. His thoughts and struggles will always inspire us.”
