New Delhi, 19 February (IANS). Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge on Wednesday raised the issue of “manipulation of voter list” by the Bharatiya Janata Party before elections in various states.
In a meeting of AICC General Secretary and in -charge, the Congress President said that the organization in charge of various states and the respective states will be accountable for electoral performance.
He told the general secretaries and in -charge, “I would like to tell you a very important thing about accountability. All of you will be accountable to the organizations with your charge and future election results.”
Referring to the manipulation in the voter list, he said, “It was taking place on a large scale in elections and Rahul Gandhi had also raised the issue in the Lok Sabha. This rigging will have to be stopped at all costs.”
He told how the names of Congress supporters were removed from the voter list or the names were removed and added to the second polling station at the last minute. He accused the BJP of adding new names just before the election.
The Congress President also referred to the Chief Justice of India from the selection committee of Election Commissioners and also mentioned manipulation in the selection process of the Chief Election Commissioner.
He said that by the order of the Supreme Court, the Chief Justice was also included in the selection committee of the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC), but the Modi government also removed him. The government also does not trust the fairness of the Chief Justice of the country.
He criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi for “the country’s trade and failure to protect business interests” during a visit to America.
Kharge said that Prime Minister Modi has failed to protect India’s trade and business interests. The Prime Minister did not oppose the US imposition of fees on Indian goods. They are imposing a loss deal on us, which our government is quietly accepting. This is clearly an insult to India and its people. America is also causing deep damage to us in economic matters.
Referring to the ‘Save the Constitution’, he said that it will continue for the next one year. Under this campaign, activities like padyatra, dialogue and street meetings are being organized. The purpose of every such program is to strengthen the organization.
Referring to the party’s performance in Delhi, the Congress President said that despite the lack of resources, candidates, workers and leaders gave their best and created an atmosphere of change. Our efforts for the next five years will have to establish ourselves as the main opposition by leading continuous struggle on public issues and mass movements.
