Mamta Banerjee showed patience on protests at Yadavpur University: Trinamool MP

Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP Sayani Ghosh said that West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee showed patience despite being attacked by leftist students Balata Basu by leftist students at Yadavpur University (JU) campus.

Yadavpur constituency MP Ghosh said that if the situation in the campus remains the same, then the reputation of the university will be very damaged, which will not be possible to compensate.

On Saturday, on the sidelines of a Trinamool program, Ghosh told reporters, “Despite the abolition of leftist students, Mamata Banerjee has introduced patience and restraint which is spoiling the situation in the campus. The police is not entering the premises despite the attack on the minister due to this attitude of the Chief Minister. JU is always known for its generous values and high academic standards. ”

He said, “But if such hooliganism continued by the Federation of India (SFI) and the Naxalites, the day is not far when the reputation of the university will be damaged to the extent that it will not be possible to compensate. We do not want that. ”

During the uproar at Yadavpur University on March 1, two students were injured when a car collided with a car of Basu’s convoy. The students associated with the leftist organization demanded a discussion on holding the student union elections and tried to stop the minister from going out of the campus. The protesters had damaged the glass of Basu’s car, causing them injuries.

However, Basu alleged that he was injured when the protesting students vandalized their car windshield.

Reacting to the MP’s statement, Sujan Chakraborty, a member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Marxist Communist Party (CPI-M), said that the Trinamool leaders continue to compete with each other for provocative statements to get “high posts” in the party. He said, “These statements reflect Trinamool’s anti -democracy and autocratic nature, but the state student organization will not be afraid of such people who provoke.”
