The five accused of the King Raghuvanshi murder case in Shillong, the capital of Meghalaya, were presented in the District and Sessions Court on Wednesday amid heavy security arrangements. This case has created sensation not only in the state, but across the country. The conspiracy of the murder has included the deceased’s wife Sonam Raghuvanshi, her alleged lover Raj Kushwaha, and three betel nut killers – Vishal Thakur, Akash Rajput and Anand Kurmi. The police had demanded a 10 -day remand of all the accused from the court, but the court approved 8 days police remand. During the remand, the police will try to expose the entire conspiracy to murder by intensively interrogating them.
Appearance in court in heavy security
The security system was very tight during the court appearance. The police brought all the accused to the court from Sadar police station in Shillong with heavy arrangements. In the pictures taken from the top angle, it was seen that the first Sonam Raghuvanshi was taken off by the police, after which Raj Kushwaha, Vishal Thakur, Akash Rajput and Anand Kurmi were taken out inside the court premises, running one by one. The faces of all the accused were covered with clothes, so that they could not be identified. During this time, there was a huge crowd of media and eagerness of the general public in the court premises.
Arrest from ‘Operation Honeymoon’
Police investigation has revealed that Sonam Raghuvanshi had conspired to kill her husband Raja Raghuvanshi along with her lover Raj Kushwaha. To carry out the murder, both of them called three betel nut killers from Indore and Lalitpur. The operation was named “Operation Honeymoon” by the police, under which all the killers were arrested. Vishal Thakur first attacked King Raghuvanshi with Khukri, killing the king on the spot. Police have recovered blood -soaked shirts and Khukri used in murder from the spot, which have now been sent for forensic investigation.

In the next few days, the crime scene will be recreated to understand the exact circumstances and strong evidence can be presented in the court.
