Imphal, 23 March (IANS). Former Chief Minister of Manipur N. Biren Singh said on Sunday that he made arrangements to send the displaced students to Water Amusement Park in Thingjin, which has given them happiness himself. He said that the children are from Churachandpur district internally displaced families.
Biren Singh shared a video of the park on the social media platform X and wrote in the caption, “I was happy to provide free passes in the park for students from Churachandpur district. We arranged for students to provide free passes in the park. Has been assured. “
He wrote, “I thank the officials of the tourism department for arranging for tour and Manipur Police Housing Corporation Limited for providing refreshments and necessary assistance to the students. I also appreciate BJP workers of Hingagh assembly constituency to make this journey a success.”
It is noteworthy that on 9 February in violent Manipur, N.K. President’s rule has been imposed in the state after Biren Singh resigned as Chief Minister. The notification issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs said that the President has imposed President’s rule in Manipur under Article 356 of the Constitution based on the Governor’s report and on the basis of information of the state. Under this article, President’s rule is imposed in the event of a constitutional system failure in the state.
It is noteworthy that about 21 months after the onset of ethnic violence in Manipur, N. Biren Singh left his post. The violence, which started in May 2023, has killed more than 250 people and thousands of people have been displaced. The central government says that it is monitoring the current situation of Manipur. N. Biren Singh faced criticism for the way of dealing with the caste conflict in the state. He apologized to the people of the state for violence in Manipur last year.
