The last rites of late former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh were performed at Nigam Bodh Ghat in Delhi. Former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh was cremated with full state honors after leaders and family paid their last respects at Nigam Bodh Ghat in Delhi. The whole country bid him farewell by name and eyes. President Draupadi Murmu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah and Defense Minister Rajnath Singh were also present at the funeral of Manmohan Singh.
Earlier, the mortal remains of Dr. Manmohan Singh were kept for the last darshan at the Congress Headquarters, where the general public including leaders had a last darshan of the former PM. Now the mortal remains are being taken from the Congress headquarters to Nigam Bodh Ghat for the last rites.
Let us tell you that Dr. Manmohan Singh died on Thursday night at AIIMS Hospital in Delhi at the age of 92. According to the Home Ministry, Dr. Singh’s last rites will be performed with full military and state honors. The Defense Ministry has been requested to make all necessary arrangements in this regard. Earlier, on Friday, all the leaders of the country including PM Modi and President Murmu paid tribute at his residence.

‘Manmohan Singh was the architect of modern India’
Congress MP Manickam Tagore said on the death of former PM Manmohan Singh that ‘this is the biggest loss of modern India. He was the architect of modern India and he created the India that Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru wanted. It was Manmohan Singh who put India on the path to where it is today in the 21st century. He was a good person and contributed a lot to country building.
‘The country is saddened by the demise of Manmohan Singh’
On the death of former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Congress leader Ashok Gehlot said, ‘He strengthened the economic situation, liberalization is his gift. He lived a simple life. The entire country is saddened by the loss of such a personality.
‘This issue is not of any party, but of the history of the country’
Congress leader Navjot Singh Sidhu said, ‘When a person leaves, all the enmity with him disappears, but politics is happening here. I ask a small question that if Atal ji’s last rites were to be held and someone said that it will not be held at Raj Ghat, the memorial will not be built there, but it will be built somewhere else, then how would you have felt? This issue is not about any party but about the history of the country. This person was special, he was a living history. Knowing what is right and not doing it is cowardice. Must have a big heart.’
At the same time, the Union Home Ministry informed on Friday night that the government has decided to allot space for the memorial of former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh. This information has been given to Manmohan Singh’s family and Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge. Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge had called Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah and appealed to allot space for the memorial of Dr. Manmohan Singh.
The government accepted his appeal and confirmed allotment of space for the memorial of the former Prime Minister. Instructions have been given to the concerned departments to finalize the location and other processes related to the construction of the memorial. The memorial of Dr. Manmohan Singh will be a symbol of respect for his contribution and service to the country. His economic policies and leadership gave India a new identity on the global stage.
On the issue of allotting space for the memorial of former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh, Congress MP and party’s Punjab chief Amarinder Singh Raja Wading said, ‘We are demanding that the government provide space for the memorial. If Atal Bihari Vajpayee can be given a place, then why not Manmohan Singh? He was the only Sikh Prime Minister of the country. When the memorial is built, it will inspire future generations.
