Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday paid tribute to former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, calling his demise a great loss for the nation and said he will be remembered as a kind-hearted human being, a learned economist and a leader dedicated to reforms.
Prime Minister Modi, in a video message, condoled Singh’s demise and also said that his life teaches future generations how to rise above adversities and achieve great heights.
Modi said, “Dr. Singh’s demise is a big loss for the nation. Achieving success in every sphere of life is no ordinary achievement. He achieved these achievements despite losing a lot after coming to India during Partition.” He said, ”Dr. Singh’s life teaches future generations how to rise above adversity to achieve great heights.”
Modi stressed that Dr Singh will always be remembered as a kind-hearted person, a learned economist and a leader dedicated to reforms.
Modi highlighted Dr Singh’s many contributions to the Government of India at various levels as an economist and praised his role as Governor of the Reserve Bank of India during challenging times.
The Prime Minister said that as Finance Minister in the government of former Prime Minister and Bharat Ratna PV Narasimha Rao, Dr. Manmohan Singh led the country out of the financial crisis and set it on a new economic path.
