Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday appreciated the inclusion of ‘Maratha Military Landscapes’ in the UNESCO World Heritage List and said that every Indian is happy with this.
The ‘Maratha Military Landscapes’ representing the Maratha rulers’s fortification system was included in the World Heritage List of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) on Friday. The decision was taken during the 47th session of the World Heritage Committee (WHC) held in Paris.
Modi said in a post on ‘X’, “When we talk about the glorious Maratha Empire, we add it to good governance, military power, cultural pride and social welfare. The great rulers inspire us with their courage not to bow down to any injustice.
He said, “Every Indian is excited by this honor. These ‘Maratha Military Landscapes’ include 12 grand forts of which 11 are in Maharashtra and one in Tamil Nadu. ”
Modi called upon people to see these forts and learn about the rich history of the Maratha Empire.
