The election for the 18th sole member of the Standing Committee of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) has been held amid controversies. These elections have been conducted under the chairmanship of the Additional Commissioner of MCD. Councilors of Aam Aadmi Party and Congress had boycotted the elections. Bharatiya Janata Party had fielded Sundar Singh and Aam Aadmi Party had fielded Nirmala Kumari. BJP candidate Sundar Singh has got 115 votes, while Aam Aadmi Party’s Nirmala Kumari has got 0 votes. With the victory in the elections, he will become the president of BJP.
Let us tell you that late last night, Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena had announced the holding of Standing Committee elections, which was boycotted by the Aam Aadmi Party in protest.
