In the by -election in Milkipur assembly seat of Uttar Pradesh, the members of the Samajwadi Party (SP) arrived with a white sheet in the Lok Sabha on Thursday, accusing the Election Commission of bias, which was written “Election Commission”.
In addition, party chief Akhilesh Yadav told reporters in the Parliament complex that the Election Commission has died and we should give it a white sheet.
He claimed that from the Senior Superintendent of Police to the Junior Officer in Ayodhya, the members of the Samajwadi Party targeted and threatened.
Akhilesh alleged that the Election Commission did not ensure independent and fair by -elections, as the officers appointed were from a particular caste.
He said that if the Election Commission had taken strict action, the by -election would have been independent and fairly.
Kannauj MP Akhilesh also alleged that his party lodged 500 complaints through social media, but no action was taken.
The Milkipur by -election became a fight for prestige between the SP and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), as this seat is a part of the Ayodhya district politically important.
Milkipur seat was vacant after SP leader Awadhesh Prasad won the Lok Sabha elections from Faizabad. On Wednesday, this seat was voted for the by -election.
While the Samajwadi Party is trying to maintain the Milkipur seat, the BJP is seeing this by -election as an opportunity to avenge its defeat in Faizabad.
Milkipur was the only assembly seat in Ayodhya district in the 2022 assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh, where the BJP lost.
