Mithun Chakraborty claimed – After the 2026 assembly elections, the throne of Bengal will belong to BJP.

Actor Mithun Chakraborty on Sunday said that the throne of West Bengal will belong to BJP after the 2026 assembly elections and promised to make every possible effort to achieve this goal.

Chakraborty, who was awarded India’s highest film honor Dadasaheb Phalke Award this year, was honored by Union Home Minister Amit Shah at the inauguration of BJP’s membership drive in West Bengal.

Speaking at an event organized at Kolkata’s Eastern Zonal Cultural Center (EZCC), Chakraborty said, “2026 will be our target and we will make every possible effort to achieve the target.” The former Rajya Sabha member said he had campaigned for the party for 37 days for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. He said that he is sad that in 2019, BJP has come down from 18 seats to 12 out of 42 seats in West Bengal.

He called upon BJP officials to ensure one crore membership in the campaign which will run till November 30. The actor said he will join the membership drive in the state in November. Chakraborty cautioned that no one should try to intimidate BJP voters into not voting in the next assembly elections in the state and called on booth-level workers of the saffron party to oppose any such attempts. .
