AIMIM president Asaduddin Owaisi on Thursday said there is not much difference between AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal and Prime Minister Narendra Modi and they are made of the same cloth.
Campaigning for Shifa-ur-Rehman, the party’s candidate from Okhla constituency, he said, “Modi and Kejriwal are like brothers, two sides of a coin. Both have emerged from the ideology of the RSS, one from its shakha and the other from its From institutions.”
Owaisi also led a foot march in Shaheen Bagh and urged the public to vote for his party’s election symbol “kite” in the Delhi elections to be held on February 5.
All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) has fielded two candidates, Tahir Hussain from Mustafabad and Shifa-ur-Rehman from Okhla. Both the candidates are currently in jail in the 2020 Delhi riots case.
When Tahir Hussain was in jail, he was a councilor of Aam Aadmi Party. He had joined AIMIM in December last year. During his address, Owaisi raised questions on Kejriwal and his party and accused them of bias in the judicial process.
He said, “How did Arvind Kejriwal get bail in the liquor policy case, while Tahir Hussain and Shifa-ur-Rehman have been in jail for the last five years? All their leaders including Manish Sisodia and Sanjay Singh have got bail, but these Both are still behind bars. What is their fault?”
He also criticized Kejriwal for the lack of development in Okhla constituency.
He said, “There has been development in every other constituency, but why not in Okhla? Instead, Okhla has turned into a garbage mountain under the AAP government. When I walk on these streets people shower flowers on me, But if Kejriwal passes through here, people throw slippers at him.”
Owaisi also claimed that BJP would never win from this constituency. “BJP has never won here and will not win this time too,” he said.
The election results will be declared on 8 February.
