Several major decisions were taken at the Union Cabinet meeting on Tuesday (19 August 2025). The Modi government has announced the construction of a new airport at a cost of Rs 1507 crore in Kota-Bundi, Rajasthan. The construction of a six-lane access-controlled ring road in Cuttack and Bhubaneswar in Odisha has been approved. The project will cost Rs 8,307 crore.
Green Field Airport in Rajasthan
Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnav said, “The Cabinet has approved the development of the Green Field Airport in Rajasthan at an estimated cost of Rs 1,507 crore. The terminal building is spread over an area of 20,000 square meters and has a 3200 meter long runway. It will have a capacity of 20 lakh passengers per year. It will be a target of meeting within 2 years.” He said, “In India, till 2014 there were only 74 airports. In the last 11 years this number has exceeded double.” Now 162 airports are active in India.
Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnav said about the construction of Kota-Badundi Greenfield Airport, “Kota is an industrial and education center. People associated with the education sector regularly come to Kota. There was a demand for an airport for a long time. The existing airport is old and requires modernization.”
6-lane access-control ring road gift to Odisha
The Union Cabinet has approved the construction of the 6-Len Access-Control Capital Ring Road (Bhubaneswar bypass-110.875 km) at Odisha on Hybrid Annuity Mode (HAM) at a cost of Rs 8,307.74 crore. The Union Minister said, “It is proposed to develop the project as a 6-lane access-control Greenfield highway. This will greatly benefit people living in Cuttack, Bhubaneswar and Khoradha cities.”
