Modi government's strike is against 'anti -labor, anti -farmer' policies: Surjewala

All India Congress Committee General Secretary Randeep Singh Surjewala said on Wednesday that the nationwide strike convened by 10 central labor organizations is aimed at opposing the alleged anti -labor and anti -farmer policies of the Narendra Modi government of the Center.

Surjewala said, “The BJP government has failed to provide adequate employment, the Government of India and various departments of the public sector undertakings (PSUs) have more than 3 million vacancies. For example, there are about 1.55 lakh vacancies in the armed forces. Railways have more than 2.5 lakh vacant posts. Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) including CRPF, BSF and ITBP have more than 85,000 vacancies.

In a conversation with reporters here, he said in a questioning tone, “Despite the increasing unemployment and immediate need of public service workers, why is the Government of India refusing to fill these 3 million vacancies?”

“On the basis of per capita GDP, India is now one of the 50th poorest country in the world, with an average income of US $ 2,900 (about 2.42 lakh rupees),” he said. In comparison, the global average per capita income is around US $ 13,000 (about 0.85 lakh rupees), which clearly shows how far India is left under the rule of the current government.
