Lucknow News: National President of Samajwadi Party and former Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav today reached the hockey stadium, Gomtinagar, built in the memory of Olympian hockey player Mohammad Shahid, and met the players present there and wished for their bright future. Let us tell you that Mohammad Shahid had also received the Padma Shri award. There is arrangement for hockey players to play here on Astroturf. Former cabinet minister Rajendra Chaudhary was also present with him on this occasion.
No arrangement for maintenance of the center
It was told on behalf of Samajwadi Party that the hockey stadium was built after the foundation stone laying and inauguration by Akhilesh Yadav on 30 December 2016. He was saddened to see that there is no arrangement for the maintenance of this main center of hockey players. BJP is showing negligence towards all the work done during the time of Samajwadi government. During this, Akhilesh Yadav met Prashant Sharma, Yogita Kumari and Shreya Kumar at the hockey stadium. All these players have received Maharani Laxmibai Award.
Achievements also counted
During his tenure as Chief Minister, Akhilesh Yadav had taken many commendable steps to honor and help sports players. He believes that to develop a good player, there is a need to teach the nuances to the child from a young age. Keeping this in mind, he had made smooth arrangements for training and nutritious food. Along with sports like cricket, badminton, hockey, wrestling, kho-kho etc. were also encouraged. Many players were given Yash Bharti honour. Apart from this, work was also done to give cash prizes to the players who got places in sports competitions and to give jobs on gazetted posts in government institutions.
It was told on behalf of Samajwadi Party that international level Ekana Stadium was also built in the capital in which international level cricket matches are held today. Cycle tracks were built in cities. Sports budget was increased. The BJP government could not create even a single such sports institute during its seven-year tenure. Under the BJP government, players did not get the respect they should have. On this occasion, the players said that under the Samajwadi government, a lot of work was done for the development of sports and players and the players got respect.
