The proceedings of the lower house of Parliament were adjourned till 4 pm on Monday as the opposition MPs shouted slogans demanding to speak in the House.
The House’s proceedings started at 11 am today, but it was adjourned till 2 pm due to slogans by opposition MPs demanding slogans on the government’s demand to discuss the government’s response through Operation Sindoor.
Earlier, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla today expressed grief over the disruption in the House and appealed to the members to debate and discuss.
Birla said, “This is the Question Hour and the government is ready to discuss every issue, the House should go and every issue should be discussed according to the rules and procedures.”
Meanwhile, the opposition has continued the demand for discussion on Pahalgam attack and Operation Sindoor.
Talking to reporters, Congress MP KC Venugopal said, “We are demanding discussion in the House in the presence of the Prime Minister. MPs of all Indian coalition parties have given a notice of adjournment motion to discuss the Pahalgam terror attack. If the government wants to discuss, it will have to show it.”
The Congress MP alleged that the Speaker did not allow the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha to speak Rahul Gandhi, which made the discussion unilaterally.
He said, “The Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister and the Defense Minister spoke in the House, but he did not let the Leader of the Opposition speak. This house has become one -sided. Let them start the discussion, we are ready.”
Congress MP Saptagiri Shankar Ulaka told ANI, “Pahalgam terrorist attack should be discussed … We demanded that the Leader of the Opposition should also be allowed to speak, but he should not allow it … The House will not last until the consensus is done, and the government should take the opposition with a big heart.”
The monsoon session of Parliament has started from today and will run till August 21, with a holiday from August 12 to August 18. There will be a total of 21 meetings in 32 days.
