Surat, 31 March (IANS). On Sunday, on the occasion of Rajasthan Foundation Day, women of Rajasthan Samaj set a new record at Marudhar Maidan in Godadara area of Surat, Gujarat on Sunday when more than 11,000 women performed the traditional dance of Rajasthan simultaneously.
On the occasion of Rajasthan Day, on March 30, all women performed traditional costumes and adornments and performed the famous Ghoomar dance of Rajasthan. According to the organizers, 5,100 women in Jaipur had set a world record by performing Ghoomar dance together, which has been broken by 11,000 women in Surat.
According to the women who do Ghoomar, Ghoomar is a symbol of the pride and respect of Rajasthan. On hearing the tune of Ghoomar, the legs start to tremble on their own. Maa Ambe’s Aarti was also held in this program organized on the first day of Navratri, in which thousands of devotees participated.
Atul Mohta of the program said, “March 30 is the foundation day of Rajasthan. With this, Hindu New Year started with Chaitra Navratri. In the beginning of Navratri, we organized Mata ji’s Maha Aarti. At the same time, a big program was organized on the occasion of Rajasthan Day, in which more than 11,000 women participated. All women were in traditional costumes of Rajasthan. “
Another woman Chanchal said, “Ghoomar is the culture of Rajasthan, which everyone did here. As soon as the tune of Ghoomar rings, our feet start to shake on their own.”
On the occasion of Rajasthan Day, many cultural programs were organized all over Gujarat. During this, everyone was seen wearing a traditional dress of Rajasthan. At the same time, colorful programs were also organized in government schools of Rajasthan a day before that.
