from GoaChief Minister Pramod Sawant said that more than three lakh people have benefited from the ‘Swayampurna Goa’ initiative launched by the government with the aim of making every village and city of the state self-reliant.
The Chief Minister on Monday called a review meeting with all taluka nodal officers and heads of various government departments, which focused on reviewing the progress of the ‘Swayampurna Goa’ program and the ongoing special operations in the coastal state, a government spokesperson said.
CM said that 3.14 lakh people have personally benefited from the scheme. He appreciated the good work done by Swayampurna Mitra and Taluka Nodal Officers in their respective Gram Panchayats. CM especially appreciated the Vision for All initiative. Under this initiative, the eyesight of more than two lakh students of classes 1 to 10 in government and aided schools was examined. In this, free spectacles were given to 3439 students.
The Chief Minister also reviewed the progress of special campaigns run by the five major departments of the state, Women and Child Development, Legal Metrology, Health, Kadamba Transport Corporation Limited and Food and Drug Administration. He asked the Taluka Nodal Officers to hold a review meeting with the Swayampurna Mitras along with the Regional Agriculture Officers and Block Development Officers at least once a month.
CM Sawant said that this will ensure that government benefits reach every eligible person in the state. He described the role of departments like Handicrafts, Textiles and Coir, Skill Development and Rural Development as essential to bring self-reliance in the rural economy. He said that these departments can empower rural women by providing skill development programs tailored to their needs and providing effective marketing platforms for their products. The Chief Minister advised the Agriculture, Animal Husbandry and Fisheries Department to intensify awareness campaigns and collaborate with other departments to achieve 100 per cent coverage of all government schemes by the end of 2025.
