New Delhi, October 27 (IANS). Highlighting the stampede at Mumbai railway station, Congress leader Sandeep Dixit on Sunday accused the Railway Ministry of mismanagement. He said there has been an increase in tragedies in the Railways not only on the tracks but also at the railway stations.
“For the last few days, we have been seeing that railway management is in disarray and this is reflected in accidents on tracks, poor crowd management on platforms or simultaneous arrival of trains on platforms,” Dixit told IANS.
Criticizing the government, especially the Railway Ministry, for ignoring falling standards, Dikshit said, “The most unfortunate aspect is that in the last seven-eight years we are seeing major accidents.”
The Congress leader said that instead of denying the government, it should focus on taking corrective measures after accepting its shortcomings.
Taking aim at the government over trains not arriving on time, Dikshit said, “Except Vande Bharat, no train is running on time. I travel a lot in trains and I believe that in the last 8-10 Over the years a good railway system has fallen into disarray.”
Let us tell you that at least nine people were injured in a stampede at Bandra Railway Station in Mumbai on Sunday, when passengers were trying to board a train going towards Uttar Pradesh.
On this matter, Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) said that the stampede occurred due to huge crowd before Diwali. BMC said some passengers were injured in the stampede on platform number 1, where a crowd had gathered for train number 22921 (Bandra-Gorakhpur Express) at Bandra Terminus station. Some officials claimed that this happened due to change in train timings.
Responding to Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s ‘divide-cut’ slogan aimed at uniting Hindu voters, Dikshit said he should not talk about unity as he has been at the forefront of dividing Hindus and Muslims. He said, ‘He has always done politics of division. They divide people on the basis of caste and language and raise questions on the patriotism of non-Hindi speaking people.
