The Congress on Saturday paid tribute to former Prime Minister PV Narasimha Rao on the occasion of the 104th birth anniversary and said that he was a visionary leader whose 1991 economic reforms set India on the path of progress, liberalization and self -sufficiency.
Party President Mallikarjun Kharge posted on the social media forum ‘X’, “We pay tribute to former Prime Minister PV Narasimha Rao on his birth anniversary. His government’s far -reaching economic liberalization policies were helpful in bringing the era of unprecedented national development.”
He said that these reforms were important in the upliftment and expansion of the middle class, making a strong foundation for a stronger and flexible India.
The Congress President said that Rao’s term is also known for the introduction of significant progress in India’s nuclear program and many efforts of visionary foreign policy, especially the ‘Look East’ policy. He said, “His important role in our nation’s progress and strength will always be remembered.”
The Congress posted from its official ‘X’ handle, “PV remembers Narsingh Rao on his birth anniversary. He was a visionary leader whose 1991 economic reforms set India on the path of progress, liberalization and self -reliance.”
The party said that Rao’s adventure reform and his personality as a politician will continue to inspire generations.
Rao was born on this day in 1921 in Karimnagar, Telangana. Today, Saturday is his 104th birth anniversary.
Senior Congress leader Rao was the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh from 1971 to 1973. He was also the Foreign Minister, Home Minister, Defense Minister and Human Resource Development Minister in the Congress governments at the Center. He was the Prime Minister of India from 21 June 1991 to 16 May 1996. He died in Delhi in 2004.
