A Delhi court on Monday reserved its order on taking cognizance of the charge sheet filed by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in the ‘National Herald’ case. Special Judge Vishal Gogane said that the case will be heard on 29 July.
Special Judge (PC Act) Vishal Gogane of Rouse Avenue Court said that the order would be pronounced on 29 July. Apart from the Gandhi family, ED has also accused Suman Dubey, Sam Pitroda, Young Indian, Dotex Merchandise and Sunil Bhandari.
The ED has alleged that Associated Journal Limited (AJL) – National Herald Publishers, priced more than ₹ 2,000 crore. Its properties have been acquired by alleged fraud. The money received from this was used in money laundering through a company called Young Indian. According to the claim, the Gandhi family is a majority shareholder in this company.
The ED says that AJL’s assets were transferred to Young Indian shares under a criminal conspiracy to illegally acquire AJL. In terms of ED, the price of shares, AJL’s immovable properties and fare from them, allegedly are the income of crime.
