National Conference (Neck) MP Aga Ruhulla Mehdi expressed surprise on the charge sheet filed against him by the Anti -Corruption Bureau (ACB) in the two -decade -old land scam case, saying that he neither received any notice nor was he questioned about the alleged irregularities.
Mehdi, prominent leader of the Shia community, is among the 22 people named in the charge sheet filed by ACB on Saturday.
The Lok Sabha member from Srinagar said, “It is as surprising for me as for the people. On the day of filing the charge sheet, I came to know about this land scam.”
Ruhulla said that in the last 20 years, there was no communication or inquiry from ACB as notice or inquiry. He said, “If the crime happened 20 years ago, the administration, ACB and the police should have been interrogated. I did not get any legal notice.”
The ACB spokesperson said on Saturday that a case was registered on the basis of a joint surprise investigation made by ACB of allegations of misuse of Rukhs and Form Department’s official posts in Kashmir.
