Jammu, October 14 (IANS). 29 BJP MLAs from Jammu and Kashmir were formally welcomed at the party headquarters on Monday. Welcoming the new MLAs, BJP Jammu and Kashmir unit president Ravindra Raina said it was a special moment for the party to welcome its elected candidates. He has made the party proud.
Ravindra Raina said, “The people of Jammu and Kashmir, especially the people of Jammu division, deserve special gratitude for giving 29 MLAs to the BJP. The BJP has won 29 seats in the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly elections. The party’s winning MLAs This is the largest number so far.”
This victory has been achieved only because of the excellent leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, guidance of Home Minister Amit Shah and BJP President JP Nadda. He said, “There will be a meeting of the legislature party soon, in which (central observers) Pralhad Joshi and Tarun Chugh will be present. After the meeting of the legislature party, the next phase of the process will be decided.”
BJP now has to choose the leader of its legislative party in the new Union Territory Assembly. Party sources said Sunil Kumar Sharma, MLA from Pader-Nagaseni constituency and Devinder Rana, elected from Nagrota constituency, are the frontrunners for the post. Raina had lost the election from Nowshera constituency in Rajouri district. National Conference candidate Surendra Chaudhary had won this seat.
BJP is the party with the second largest number of MLAs in Jammu and Kashmir. Therefore, the party is certain to get the post of Leader of Opposition in the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly.
There are 90 assembly seats in Jammu and Kashmir. National Conference has 42 MLAs, Congress six, PDP three, CPI(M) one, People’s Conference and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) one each in the assembly. While there are also seven independent MLAs.
