What changes can happen?
According to information received from sources, the government is going to make changes in the Agneepath scheme. In this, the salary of fire fighters can also be increased. Talking to the media, the source said that one quarter is a very small number to maintain combat strength on the ground. The army has recommended that the percentage of firefighters should increase to about 50 percent at the end of four years. So far only 25 percent of the heroes are retained in service after 4 years of service. These changes are being made to improve the scheme. However, this process may still take time.
What is Agnipath Scheme?
The scheme was launched by the Centre in 2022 in an effort to make the armed forces flexible and reduce the defence pension bill. As per the scheme, soldiers known as Agniveers are recruited in the Army, Navy and Air Force on a 4-year contract. Only 25% of the recruitments are made permanent. After the implementation of this scheme, it was opposed across the country. However, it is now being said that the youth is angry after the BJP brought this scheme. According to the information, in the Lok Sabha elections, the BJP has suffered a setback in those areas where the number of defence personnel is the highest.
