Pune, 11 April (IANS). Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister and Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief Ajit Pawar said that Tawwur Rana, accused in the 26/11 Mumbai terror attack, said that who is the mastermind behind that attack?
Talking to the media in Pune on Friday, Ajit Pawar said, “When there was 26/11 attack, we were also in Mumbai. During that time we also took stock of the incident. We tried to find out who was the real mastermind behind the incident. Now we have caught Tahwwur Rana and he will tell what was the real reason behind the incident and who is behind it is the mastermind of the incident, which is the mastermind behind the incident, who Had given instructions. “
Tehwavur Hussain Rana was brought to India from America on Thursday evening. The National Investigation Agency (NIA) detained it as soon as he reached the IGI Airport in New Delhi. Rana was then produced in the NIA special court at Patiala House, from where he was sent to 18 days custody.
The NIA will now interrogate Rana in detail about the conspiracy of the 2008 Mumbai attacks, killing 166 people and injured 238 people.
Rana was brought from Los Angeles to India by a special aircraft along with NIA and National Security Guard (NSG) teams. In the US, Rana made several legal efforts to prevent his extradition, including an emergency petition in the US Supreme Court.
However, extradition was possible after all petitions were dismissed. India’s Foreign Ministry and Ministry of Home Affairs completed the process in collaboration with US officials.
The NIA tried for years to extradite Rana. The agency worked closely with the US FBI, Department of Justice (USDOJ) and other agencies. Rana is accused of playing an important role in the conspiracy of Mumbai attacks.
