According to RPF, no one was injured in the accident, the windows of the train were found broken. In the initial investigation it seems that some mischievous element has carried out the incident. An FIR has been registered against unknown people for murderous attack and damage to public property and further investigation is being done. RPF personnel are raiding the slums located around the incident site.

RPF officials said that the incident took place in Bhadrak district. According to the information, train number 12816 Anand Vihar-Puri Nandan Kanan Express was going to Puri. Meanwhile, on the way, someone suddenly fired on the train on the Bhadrak-Baudpur railway line of Odisha. The police have not yet shared any information about how many bullets were fired by the attackers and what size of shells the police have recovered from the spot.

According to railway officials, passengers said that at first it seemed as if a firecracker had burst outside the train. According to RPF, when the passengers saw the broken glass in the train, the matter was informed to the railway guard. The guard gave this information to railway officials and RPF jawans. A video of the entire incident is going viral on social media, in which the glass of a coach is seen broken. After this firing that took place amidst festivals, railway security agencies have been alerted. Security has been increased on Bhadrak railway line.
