New Delhi, Sep 8 (IANS) Congress leader Mumtaz Patel reacted to wrestlers Bajrang Punia and Vinesh Phogat officially joining the Congress while speaking to IANS on Sunday.
It is worth noting that recently wrestlers Bajrang Punia and Vinesh Phogat joined the Congress party. The party has also made Vinesh a candidate in the Haryana assembly elections. On this, the BJP is alleging that the wrestlers’ demonstration at Jantar Mantar in Delhi was pre-planned. On this, Congress leader Mumtaz Patel said that the movement was right. If it was not right, then Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh would not have resigned.
Mumtaz Patel said, I myself had joined the movement and had also included my daughter. We had joined the movement not on behalf of the party but as women.
The Congress leader said, when the wrestlers were protesting, the government did not do anything for them, rather the Congress stood in their support. In such a situation, Vinesh Phogat and Bajrang Punia must have felt that their ideology matches that of the Congress, due to which they must have decided to join the Congress party.
He said that supporting the protest was not a political issue for the Congress. Rather, when the ruling party does not support the public, it is the opposition that helps. Today Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh is saying that it was the Congress party that got the wrestlers to protest, there is no truth in this. These people are trying to hide their mistakes.
Actually, Bajrang Punia and Vinesh Phogat have recently joined the Congress party. Congress has also made Vinesh Phogat a candidate in the Haryana assembly elections. Bajrang Punia has been made the national working president of the Congress Kisan Cell. BJP is on the offensive regarding this.
Let us tell you that voting for 90 assembly seats is to be held in Haryana on October 5. The results of all the seats will come on October 8.
