‘One Nation-One Election’ : The Cabinet headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday approved the proposal of ‘One Nation-One Election’. The opposition parties have opposed this move of the government, while the NDA allies have supported it. Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge has attacked the BJP and called it anti-constitution, while NDA ally Hindustani Awam Morcha (HAM) chief and former Bihar CM Jitan Ram Manjhi has supported it.
Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge said that One Nation One Election is only a BJP issue to divert attention. This is against the Constitution, against democracy, against federalism. He said that the country will never accept this.

At the same time, Bahujan Samaj Party chief and former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati said that our party’s stand on the proposal to hold Lok Sabha, Assembly and local body elections simultaneously in the country under the system of ‘one country, one election’ is positive, but its objective must be in the national and public interest.

Owaisi protested
At the same time, All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen party chief Asaduddin Owaisi posted on his social media handle X, in which he wrote, I have consistently opposed One Nation One Elections. It destroys federalism and compromises democracy, which is part of the basic structure of the Constitution. He said that separate elections are not a problem for anyone except PM Modi and Amit Shah. He said that he also campaigns in municipal and local body elections, it does not mean that we need to hold simultaneous elections. He said that separate and periodic elections improve democratic accountability.
I have consistently opposed #OneNationOneElections because it is a solution in search of a problem. It destroys federalism and compromises democracy, which are part of the basic structure of the constitution.
Multiple elections aren’t a problem for anyone except Modi & Shah.…

Now the rule of vote robbers will not work
BJP-led NDA’s ally Hindustani Awam Morcha chief and former Bihar CM Jitan Ram Manjhi supported the proposal of One Nation One Election. He said that every year elections are held in some state or the other. Due to this continuity of elections, the country is always in election mode. This not only affects administrative and policy decisions but also puts a heavy burden on the country’s treasury. Dalit voters will also be facilitated by “One Nation-One Election”. Now the rule of vote looters will not work.

“One Nation-One Election” will also benefit Dalit voters.
