Bhopal, September 30 (IANS). Former Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh and Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan termed the Maiya Samman scheme being run by the Jharkhand government as a copy of his government. Apart from this, he reiterated the commitments of the Central Government towards farmers and low income group people.
Taking a dig at the Maiya Samman scheme launched by the Jharkhand government, he said, “Opposition parties are copying us. They are implementing the schemes run by our government by changing their names, but it does not make any difference to us, rather I am happy that by doing this, they are empowering women in some way or the other.
Meanwhile, he also expressed his views regarding the meeting with Chief Minister Mohan Yadav.
He said, “We met him and discussed in detail the development of the state and the betterment of farmers. We have decided to buy lentils and urad dal at the minimum support price, so that the farmers of the state can get maximum benefits.”
He said, “The Central Government has done the work of providing three and a half lakh houses to the poor of Madhya Pradesh under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana. Under the PM scheme, 312 roads will be constructed in Madhya Pradesh. The entire outline in this direction has been approved. Import duty on imported edible oil was earlier zero. Now we have decided to impose 27 percent duty on this, so that cheap oil does not come to India. We have taken a decision in this direction to ensure that farmers get proper benefit from soybean, mustard and groundnut. Apart from this, we have also removed the ban on normal rice, so that the rice of our country can go out and benefit our farmers.”
He further said, “Many names were left out in the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana in 2018. Now the exercise to add all those names to this scheme has been started. Earlier many people were not able to get the benefit of this scheme. For example, if someone’s monthly salary was more than Rs 10,000, he was deprived of that scheme. Apart from this, if anyone had a two-wheeler, he was also deprived of the benefits of the scheme, but now we have decided to make changes in all these rules, so that the benefits under this scheme can reach other people.
