Thane, September 1 (IANS). Politics continues on the incident of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s statue falling. Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut said that Devendra Fadnavis is the mastermind behind everything. He is the villain, this is the problem in Maharashtra.
He said that the entire country and Prime Minister Narendra Modi know this, that is why he had to apologize. But the question is, will the matter be resolved just by apologizing? The sentiments of the people of Maharashtra should be allowed to be expressed. Such a big statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj was broken, will we sit silent?
He said that we want to protest. This is the beauty of democracy that we can protest peacefully. We are gathering there to express our feelings in honor of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, but we are being stopped. Sharad Pawar, Uddhav Thackeray, Nana Patole, all the workers of Congress, Shiv Sena and Nationalist Congress Party will gather there. Our movement in honor of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj is not against any one government.
He said that this is happening for the first time in this state that a movement is going on in the honor of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and the BJP is agitating against him. The BJP will completely destroy Maharashtra. In just seven months, the statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj collapsed, so should we remain silent? We are going to protest in honor of Shivaji Maharaj today.
It is noteworthy that on August 26, a 35-foot-high statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj fell in Rajkot Fort of Sindhudurg district. This statue was built by the Indian Navy.
This incident brought embarrassment to the Maharashtra government led by Chief Minister Eknath Shinde. Opposition parties criticized it a lot and also staged protests.
Chief Minister Eknath Shinde had said that he can apologize 100 times for the collapse of Shivaji Maharaj’s statue. Chhatrapati Shivaji is the patron deity of Maharashtra. I am ready to touch his feet 100 times and apologize for the accident. Our government works keeping in mind the ideals of Shivaji. The Maharashtra government has formed a joint technical committee of engineers, experts from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) and naval officers to find out the reasons for the collapse of Shivaji Maharaj’s statue.
