In the monsoon session of Parliament, on Wednesday, the opposition created a ruckus in both the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha houses. Opposition parties surrounded the Prime Minister, Union Minister, Chief Minister and Union Territory Ministers and strongly opposed the Constitution Amendment Bill, which removed from the post in the event of arrest or custody in serious criminal cases. The proceedings of the houses had to be postponed till 12 noon amidst heavy uproar.
SP MP Ram Gopal Yadav’s sharp attack
SP MP Ram Gopal Yadav called this bill against democracy. They said,
“Today the situation is such that even if there is no charge on anyone, false and serious allegations can be made. Opposition leaders are being imprisoned in this government. This is the new way to remove the Chief Minister and ministers of the states where the BJP is not in power. Democratic norms are no longer left.”
He also said that such steps can prove fatal for the government in future, because after being out of power, their own people will also oppose.
Owaisi gave notice of protest
IEMIM MP Asaduddin Owaisi also gave notice in the Lok Sabha to oppose the Constitution (one hundred and thirtyth amendment) Bill, 2025. Apart from this, he also strongly opposed the Union Government Government (Amendment) Bill, 2025 and Jammu and Kashmir Reorganization (Amendment) Bill, 2025.
Opposition vs government conflict
This conflict in the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha has once again exposed the tension between the central government and the opposition. The opposition alleges that the government is weakening democracy through these amendments and attacking the autonomy of the states. At the same time, the government’s side is that this bill has been brought to ensure purity and transparency.
At the moment, the proceedings of the House have been postponed till 12 noon and everyone’s eyes are fixed on whether the ruckus will stop or intensify when it resumes.
