Ahead of the Delhi Assembly elections, Congress leader Sachin Pilot on Monday said that the people of the capital are fed up with the fight for supremacy between the AAP-led Delhi government and the BJP-led central government and his party has emerged as a ‘better option’.
Talking to journalists, he expressed confidence that the people of Delhi will vote for Congress this time.
Pilot said, “There is a fight for supremacy going on between the Delhi government and the central government and the people of the city are suffering the consequences of this.”
He said that Congress party has emerged as a better option and people will give it mandate in the Delhi Assembly elections.
The former Deputy Chief Minister of Rajasthan said, “We have given some guarantees to the people of Delhi. They also remember the developments under the Sheila Dikshit-led Congress government. We will fight strongly and the Congress will perform well in the Delhi elections.”
Five guarantees of Congress for Delhi elections include LPG cylinder for Rs 500, free ration kit and electricity up to 300 units, monthly grant of Rs 2,500 to women under ‘Pyaari Didi Yojana’, up to Rs 25 lakh under ‘Jeevan Raksha Yojana’. Includes free health insurance cover and financial assistance of Rs 8,500 per month for one year to educated unemployed youth.
Regarding the opposition Indian faction, Pilot said that Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and senior party leader Rahul Gandhi brought all the parties together to fight against the NDA in the Lok Sabha elections and the results were good.
Voting for the 70-member Delhi Assembly will be held on February 5 and the results will be declared on February 8. In the 2015 and 2020 Delhi Assembly elections, AAP won 67 and 62 seats respectively. BJP won three seats in 2015 and eight seats in 2020, while Congress did not get a single seat.
