People’s Conference President Sajjad Ghani Lone said that the brutal attack on innocent tourists in Pahalgam has aroused the people of Kashmir and now they will not tolerate violence.
Condemning the terror attack on April 22 last, on the resolution passed by the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly, Lone said that people should be taken positively instead of being punitive action.
He said that in many areas of Jammu and Kashmir, people are earning their livelihood from the tourism sector and this brutal terrorist attack is a direct effort to overthrow a generation. He said, “We are grateful to our country, who is awake to clearly condemn the attack on our guests after 35 years.”
Lone said, “Keeping politics aside, I believe that violence is somewhat acceptance in our society because some people have accepted it as a valid thing, but their number is continuously decreasing.”
Former minister Sajjad Lone’s father and Hurriyat leader Abdul Ghani Lone was also murdered by terrorists.
Lone said that violence in Kashmiri society had a “social acceptance”, but has changed after the incident of Pahalgam. He said, “We saw that people are going out against violence in every street. People are no longer ready to accept violence – this is the beginning of the end of the social acceptance of violence.”
