People have praised this decision of the Modi government and called it a great step of the government. Meanwhile, in a survey conducted by Matrise, people called this decision of the central government a great step. Actually, in this survey, people were asked questions about this and an attempt was made to take their opinion. In this survey, people were asked what is your opinion on the decision taken by the government to include elderly people above 70 years of age in the Ayushman Yojana (Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana)?
According to the survey, 85.19 percent people said that this decision of the government is good, while 7.41 percent people said that the decision of the government is wrong. Let us tell you that the Modi government has decided to abolish the age limit for the Ayushman scheme and provide health facilities up to Rs 5 lakh under the Ayushman scheme to every senior citizen above 70 years of age. That means, all senior citizens aged 70 years and above, irrespective of their socio-economic status, will be eligible to avail the benefits of this scheme.
The aim of expanding this facility is to benefit about 4.5 crore families, which include 6 crore senior citizens. They will get free health insurance cover of Rs 5 lakh per family.
The Modi government started this scheme under the National Health Policy in the year 2017. Under this scheme, free treatment up to Rs 5 lakh can be availed in identified government and private hospitals across the country.
There is also a provision for payment of medical expenses 10 days before and after hospitalization under the scheme.
