PM Modi congratulated Indian women’s and men’s teams on winning the Kho Kho World Cup.

New Delhi, January 19 (IANS). The Indian women’s and men’s teams won the inaugural Kho Kho World Cup 2025 titles on Sunday. Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed happiness over the success of both the teams and congratulated them.

PM Modi wrote on his social media platform X, “Today is a great day for Indian Kho Kho. Incredibly proud of the Indian men’s Kho Kho team for winning the Kho Kho World Cup title. Their patience and dedication is commendable. This victory will contribute to making Kho Kho more popular among the youth.”

In another post, he wrote, “Congratulations to the Indian women’s team on winning the Kho-Kho World Cup for the first time! This historic victory is the result of their unique skills, determination and teamwork.

“This win has brought one of India’s oldest traditional sports even more into the limelight, inspiring countless young athletes across the country. Hopefully this achievement will inspire more youngsters to take up the sport in the times to come.” Will pave the way for adoption.”

It is noteworthy that the Indian men’s team has won the title of the first Kho Kho World Cup 2025 played at the Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium in the national capital Delhi on Sunday. Team India defeated Nepal 54-36 in the final match. Earlier, the Indian women’s team had also won the title by defeating Nepal.

Thanks to the brilliant performance of captain Prateek Waikar and tournament star player Ramji Kashyap, the Indian men’s team won 54-36 in the final played against Nepal. The Indian women’s team also defeated Nepal in the final of the Kho Kho World Cup. The women’s team defeated Nepal 78-40.
