Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Thursday that the technology was playing an important role in the lives of the people and urged the creators to create a more kind future using art forms like music, dance and story.
Modi said, “Humans should not be converted into robots. We need to make them more sensitive,” Modi said while batting for creative responsibility at the inauguration of World Audio Visual and Entertainment Summit (Waves) first.
Waves have been envisaged as a platform for India’s position as a global center for media, entertainment and digital innovation by bringing together the creators, start ups, industry leaders and policy-makers from all over the world. The Prime Minister’s remarks came against the background of a fierce debate on the online material and the Supreme Court asked the government to frame the guidelines to regulate it.
Modi said that waves have the ability to become a global talent forum at one time when India is emerging as an international center for filmmaking, digital materials, gaming, fashion, music and live concerts programs. He said that this was the right time for “Create, Create for World” in India when the world is looking for new ways of storytelling, while India has a lot.
He said that the creative world has the power to promote human compassion and deepen social consciousness. Modi said that the target is not to create robots, but to nurture individuals with sensitivity, emotional depth and intellectual prosperity – the properties that cannot give information alone or technical pace.
He also highlighted the need to protect young generations from divisive and harmful ideologies, stating that waves can serve as an important platform to maintain cultural integrity and establish positive values. The summit began with a hymns of a hymn from the Rigveda, which was performed by singers such as the Academy Award winner MM Kerwani and by singers such as Shreya Ghoshal.
Actor Shah Rukh Khan welcomed the guests at the summit and rolled the ball. Film celebrities like Anupam Kher, Hema Malini, Mohanlal, Rajinikanth, Karthik Aryan, S. Rajamouli and Anil Kapoor gave brief speeches and appreciated the Prime Minister’s vision for creating a global platform for Indian talent.
The Prime Minister canceled the lunch for selected guests in view of the Pahgam terror attack. He did not even include cultural evenings, including Vishwa Mohan Bhatt, Ronu Majumdar, M. M. Kerwani, Ek R Rahman and Anupam Kher’s performance were included.
Modi said that the waves have the ability to provide global talent a platform at a time when India is emerging as an international center for filmmaking, digital materials, gaming, fashion, music and live concerts. Like the Indian ‘Khan’, I am sure that the song ‘Indian’ will also become popular globally, he said, adding the size of the screen may be mini, but the message (stories of India) is becoming a mega.
He said, “Even though the size of the screen is getting smaller, the scope is becoming infinite.” Modi expressed confidence in India’s content creators and said that his free-flow creativity is redefining the global creative landscape. He emphasized that the young spirit of the creators of India does not know any obstruction, boundary or hesitation, allowing innovation to flourish.
Modi said that his government stood firmly with creative professionals, supporting him through initiatives such as global platforms such as Kaushal India, startup support, policies and waves for AVGC industry.
He said that every effort is being made to create an environment where innovation and imagination are given importance, new dreams are promoted and individuals are empowered to bring those dreams into life.
Modi said the waves will serve as a major platform, where creativity meets coding, mixes with the software story stories, and the art merges with the enhanced reality. He urged young creators to take maximum advantage of this opportunity, to dedicate big dreams and to realize their efforts to realize their vision.
