Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday inaugurated India’s first vertical lift C-barrid at Rameswaram, Tamil Nadu. On this historic occasion, the Prime Minister also shared a glimpse of the air scene of ‘Ram Setu’ and described Lord Shri Ram as “a powerful spirit connecting all of us”.
PM Modi shared a video of an air scene taken over ‘Ram Setu’ on social media and wrote, “Prabhu Shri Ram is a feeling connecting all of us. Today I got the privilege of watching the holy Ram Setu flying on top of Rameshwaram. This scene was extremely supernatural, which is a symbol of India’s culture, faith and pride.”
In this sequence, the Prime Minister inaugurated India’s first vertical lift C-Bridge, which will connect Rameshwaram to the mainland. This new bridge is built in place of the old ‘Pamban Bridge’ and is a modern sample of engineering.
This bridge is 2.05 km long and has used vertical lift technology, so that the bridge can be lifted up when a ship passes down. This will facilitate both sea transport and railway traffic.
The project has been completed at a cost of about ₹ 535 crore and is considered one of the major achievements of Indian Railways. This bridge will be helpful in giving new height to the pilgrimage and tourism of Rameshwaram in the coming years.
This visit of Prime Minister Modi is being seen as a confluence of religious faith and modern infrastructure. On the one hand, while he underlined the legacy of Shri Ram and the importance of Ram Setu, on the other hand also inaugurated the modern project indicating the development and future of the country.
Rameshwaram is not only the center of India’s cultural consciousness, but now it is becoming a confluence of modernity and faith, which is being led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
