New Delhi, October 31 (IANS). Congress leader Alok Sharma reacted to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s statement on the 149th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. He said that even on the day of Diwali, the PM is not able to avoid targeting others.
In a special conversation with IANS, he said, “Even today on the day of Diwali, the Prime Minister of the country is not able to avoid targeting other people. PM Modi should tell whether Article 370 is a part of the Constitution or not? He is still lying. “Article 370 is still a part of the Constitution and they have made only two changes. We had made 36 such changes.”
He further said that he is the Prime Minister of the country, now if there are elections in two states, will he say anything. All I would say is that he should at least speak the truth.
Alok Sharma said that a committee was formed for ‘One Nation, One Election’, it has been a long time since its recommendation came. Right now elections are going on in Jharkhand, which is in two phases. Elections are also being held in Maharashtra, but they are not able to conduct elections in two states simultaneously. He got the elections of Haryana separated and is getting the elections of other states separated. There is a difference between their words and actions. PM Modi should not tell such lies which he himself does not follow.
The Congress leader said that if ‘Urban Naxalites’ are in the country then it is a matter of shame for the Prime Minister. What is the Home Ministry doing in such a situation? You should not create division and hatred among the people of the country by calling anyone ‘Urban Naxalite’ or ‘Tukde-Tukde Gang’. If a person has done something wrong then punish him. The job of getting punishment is the responsibility of the Home Ministry, Police and Court. You follow the process. Don’t mislead the country by just leaving this issue.
He further said how far has Naxalism reached? How many people have the Naxalites killed now? How many incidents of terrorism have happened recently? PM Modi should speak on them, but he does not talk. How many railway accidents have taken place after you assumed power, but why did you not remove the Railway Minister? Therefore, misleading the country should be stopped.
