Prime Minister Narendra Modi underlined the importance of the industrial and energy sector of the country at an event held in Yamunanagar, Haryana on Monday, saying that electricity is the basis of the country’s progress and it is mandatory to make the country self -sufficient in the energy sector for industrial development, promotion of MSME sector and manufacture of world -class products. He launched the third unit of Deenbandhu Chaudhary Chhoturam Thermal Power Project, saying that it would specially benefit Yamunanagar, where plywood, aluminum, copper and brass utensils are built on a large scale. Also, this area is a pioneer in the petrochemical sector. Increasing the availability of electricity will strengthen all these industries and the manufacturing sector will get a big incentive.
Prime Minister Modi said that our government is making all -round efforts so that there is no shortage of electricity in the country and there is no obstruction of energy in nation building. For this, continuous work is being done on the expansion of coal based power plant, solar energy and nuclear sector. He described Yamunanagar as an important part of India’s industrial map and said that the region strengthens the country’s economy. He said that when he was in charge of Haryana, he used to visit Yamunanagar and he had old relations with the workers here.
He said that Haryana is looking at the government of double engine for the third consecutive time and now it is being termed as ‘Triple Sarkar’ under the leadership of Chief Minister Naib Singh Saini. The Prime Minister said that Haryana developed for developed India is our resolve and to prove this resolution, our government is working on fast pace and large scale. Development projects started today are an important step in this direction.
Recalling the industrial view of Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar, Prime Minister Modi said that Babasaheb had described the development of industries as an effective path for social justice. He recognized the problem of small holdings in the country and said that Dalits could get the most benefits from industries. He along with the country’s first Industries Minister Shyama Prasad Mukherjee had promoted industrialization. The thinking of Deenbandhu Chaudhary Chhoturam and Chaudhary Charan Singh was also that the prosperity of villages is possible only with agriculture as well as small scale industries.
The Prime Minister said that our government is giving priority to manufacturing under the vision of “Make in India” and “self -sufficient India”. In the same year’s budget, we have announced “Mission Manufacturing”, which aims to provide maximum employment, training and business opportunities to Dalit, backward, disadvantaged and exploited youth. The Prime Minister said that everyone should get the benefit of technological development in the country and our products should become competitive globally, for this self -sufficiency in the energy sector is necessary. The third unit of thermal power started in Yamunanagar is a solid step in this direction, which will not only strengthen local industries but also contribute significantly to national development.
