New Delhi, October 28 (IANS). Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate a new Jan Aushadhi Center at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Delhi on Tuesday. On this occasion, along with Prime Minister Modi, Union Health Minister J.P. Nadda will also be present.
The new center is spread over 1,724 square feet and will have access to over 2,047 high quality generic medicines and over 300 surgical instruments at very affordable prices.
This Jan Aushadhi Center at AIIMS is being inaugurated under the Pradhan Mantri Bharatiya Jan Aushadhi Pariyojana (PMBJP), which aims to make health services accessible and affordable in India.
The main objective of this center is to provide affordable and quality medicines to the patients coming for treatment at AIIMS. The medicines available here will include medicines for heart diseases, cancer, diabetes, infections, allergies, stomach related problems and nutrition related medicines.
This initiative will provide high quality, affordable healthcare services to thousands of patients who come to AIIMS for treatment every day. The establishment of Jan Aushadhi Kendra is the government’s commitment to ensure that essential medicines are available to all. At present, more than 14,000 Jan Aushadhi Centers are running across India, which are providing health benefits to about one million people every day.
These centers provide life-saving services to the most remote and backward areas of the country, and are operational in 780 districts. The Government of India has made an ambitious plan to increase the number of these centers to 25,000 in the next two years. This expansion will not only increase the availability of affordable healthcare services, but will also provide millions of citizens with access to the medicines they need.
This initiative will make high quality generic medicines available at affordable rates, providing relief to those who have been facing expensive healthcare services for a long time.
This is a major change towards inclusivity in healthcare services which also reflects the government’s commitment towards health equity, so that no citizen is deprived of quality treatment.
AIIMS’s Jan Aushadhi Center symbolizes the government’s commitment towards a healthy India, empowering people to access affordable healthcare and striving to fundamentally change the nature of healthcare in the country.
