Greater Noida, Sep 11 (IANS) Semicon India is being organised to make India completely self-reliant in the field of semiconductors and to encourage other countries to come here and open their factories and invest.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate it today. During this, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will be present with him. Also, representatives from 29 countries will also attend this program. Semicon India 2024 is going to start from today for three days at the Expo Center in Greater Noida. PM Modi will inaugurate it.
Its main objective is to generate more than five lakh jobs annually in the future. Along with this, the country has to be made self-reliant in semiconductors. This will benefit students pursuing MTech and BTech as well as technical teachers. Students will get paid internship in the investing company. Annually 500 to 1000 students will be trained here.
After this, they will also be able to open their own startup. Representatives from 29 countries will participate in Semicon India. 830 stalls will be set up. More than 50 thousand businessmen will reach here in three days. These businessmen will be from India and other countries, who will be made aware of the semiconductor policy of the state. So that they can invest in the semiconductor park being built in the country and open a company.
At present, India is dependent on other countries for semiconductors. These include the US, China and Taiwan. India had to face problems in the supply of semiconductors during the Corona period and the recent tension between China and Taiwan. After this, efforts are being made to produce semiconductors in the country.
Uttar Pradesh’s first semiconductor park will be developed in Yamuna Authority area. Yamuna Development Authority has signed MoUs with several companies to manufacture semiconductors. India is far behind in semiconductor production. Currently, only about 2,000 chips are designed here annually, while by the year 2026, the consumption of semiconductors here will exceed 55 billion dollars and by 2030 it will exceed 110 billion dollars.
To promote the semiconductor industry, many challenges have to be overcome in the country. Among these, supply chain, raw material and equipment, testing facility and skilled manpower are the most important. In such a situation, there is a plan to increase its capacity manifold. So that with self-reliance, the target of the state’s economy can reach 1 trillion dollars.
