PM Modi’s decision to conduct caste census, will prove to be a big step: Rajiv Pratap Rudy

पीएम मोदी का जातीय जनगणना कराने का निर्णय, साबित होगा बड़ा कदम: राजीव प्रताप रूडी

Chhapra, 2 May (IANS). BJP MP from Chhapra in Bihar Rajiv Pratap Rudy has described the decision of the central government to conduct caste census in the country. For this, the BJP MP has thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Speaking to the media, Rajiv Pratap Rudy said that caste census was necessary in the country. Prime Minister Narendra Modi took a big decision to conduct ethnic census. Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar also raised this subject several times. PM Modi has decided to conduct caste census, for this we thank him. This will prove to be a big step for the coming days in the country.

It may be noted that caste census was approved in a meeting of the Union Cabinet in Delhi on Wednesday (April 30) under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Giving information about the government’s decision, Information and Broadcasting Minister Ashwini Vaishnav had said that the Congress governments had opposed the caste census. Caste census has not taken place since 1947. Instead of caste census, the Congress conducted a caste survey, many states in the UPA government have done caste survey from political point of view.

It was also said that the Congress governments have opposed caste census till date. Since independence, castes have not been counted in the census that took place in the country till now. In 2010, the then Prime Minister late Dr. Manmohan Singh assured in the Lok Sabha that the caste census would be considered in the cabinet. Thereafter, a cabinet group was also formed, in which most political parties recommended caste -based census.

Despite this, the Congress government considered it appropriate to conduct a survey, rather than caste census, which is known as SECC. The parties of the Congress and the Indie alliance used the subject of caste census only for their political gains.
