Jhajjar, Aug 31 (IANS) Police is on alert mode in the election-bound state of Haryana. Paramilitary personnel have been deployed here to ensure that the assembly elections are conducted peacefully and fairly.
Regarding conducting peaceful elections in Haryana’s Jhajjar district, Deputy Commissioner of Police Lokesh Kumar said that keeping in mind the security during the elections, paramilitary forces have arrived. They are working together with the district police. He said that blockades have been put up at six places.
Lokesh Kumar told reporters that the district police is prepared to conduct the elections in a peaceful and fair manner. Continuous patrolling is being done and from time to time necessary instructions are being given to the policemen and paramilitary personnel deployed at the blockade.
He said that suspicious vehicles are being checked at all the checkpoints and the police is keeping a close watch on every suspicious person coming and going. He said that soon more paramilitary personnel will also reach here. The aim of the police is to prevent any untoward incident and conduct the elections peacefully.
Let us tell you that the Election Commission has changed the date of voting for the Haryana assembly elections on Saturday. The Election Commission has changed the date of voting for the assembly elections to be held in one phase in Haryana to October 5. Earlier the voting was to be held on October 1.
There is no change in the voting dates in Jammu and Kashmir. The elections will still be held in three phases, the first phase on September 18, the second phase on September 25 and the third and final phase on October 1. The election results for both Jammu and Kashmir and Haryana will be declared on October 8.
The Election Commission on Saturday set October 8 as the date for counting of votes for the Haryana Assembly elections, citing the centuries-old festival of the Bishnoi community.
