The Delhi Police has refused to allow the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) to take a procession in the Jahangirpuri area of North-Western Delhi on Hanuman Jayanti in view of “sensitivity and influence on law and order”.
An order issued on Friday stated, “Your request was considered on the occasion of Hanuman Jayanti to allow the permission to allow Shobha Yatra from A-Block to K-Block Jahangirpuri on Saturday, but it cannot be accepted in view of its impact and sensitivity on law and order and security scenario in the area.”
The order states, “However, you can celebrate the festival in the temple complex.”
Delhi Police has already increased security in the area to avoid any untoward incident on the occasion of Hanuman Jayanti. Officials are cautious after the announcements of several Hindu organizations to take out a procession in the area.
“As a precaution, Rapid Action Force (RAF) troops and additional Delhi Police jawans have been deployed in sensitive areas of Jahangirpuri,” said an official.
