Police in Erode district of Tamil Nadu finally settled the case of murder of an elderly couple after 17 days. Police arrested four people on Monday in this connection. Police searched footage of two hundred CCTV cameras to resolve this double murder. Western Range Inspector General of Police (IG) T Senthilkumar told PTI that 72 -year -old Ramasamy, a resident of Uchimedu Magarayan Garden and his 63 -year -old wife Bagiam were living in their farmhouse in Shivgiri police station area. But both were found dead on 2 May.
According to the IG, his son Kavishkar, who lives in another village about 20 km away, tried to call his parents on May 1, but did not get a reply to the phone call. Surprisingly, he called his relatives living in the neighborhood fields and asked him to go to his parents’ house.
IGT Senthilkumar further said that when his relatives went to their farmhouse on May 2, they found the couple dead, had many injuries on their body and their bodies were rotting in the farmhouse. Later it was discovered that gold jewelery is also missing from the farmhouse.
The Inspector General of Police (IG) further said that on receiving the information, the police registered a case and more than ten police teams were formed to resolve the case. One of them arrested three history sheeters after examining footage of more than 200 CCTV cameras.
According to the IG, the arrested people have been identified as 48 -year -old Achyappan, 52 -year -old Maderswaran and 54 -year -old Ramesh, who are all residents of Archalur area of Eroad district. IG Senthilkumar said that the accused confessed that they had killed an elderly couple and stolen 10 gold jewelery. These jewelery were given to Johri Gyanasekharan of Arachalur, who melted them and kept the metal with them.
IG said that Gyanasekharan has also been arrested and all four have been sent to judicial custody. He said that the first three suspects have confessed to killing three other persons in another case.
Those killed earlier by these killers have been identified as 78 -year -old Devisigmani, his wife 74 -year -old Alamthal and his son 44 -year -old Senthilkumar. All of them were residents of Semaligaundan Palayam in Tirupur district. The miscreants looted five and a half weighing gold jewelery from them.
