Political parties should urge the government to call special session on the Pahalgam attack: Kapil Sibal

Independent member Kapil Sibal in the Rajya Sabha on Sunday requested political parties to urge the government to call a special session of Parliament at the earliest in the wake of Pahalgam terror attack.

Sibal said, “I suggested on 25 April that a special session of Parliament should be called to showcase the unity of the country in this hour of grief.”He said, “I request all political parties to urge the government to call such a session as soon as possible in May.”

Sibal on Friday urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to call a special session of Parliament and pass a resolution condemning the Pahalgam terror attack to give a message to the world that the country is united.

Sibal had also suggested the government to send delegations of ruling and opposition MPs to various important countries to create diplomatic pressure on Pakistan.

The former Union Minister said at a press conference here that the way the US takes steps like restrictions, India should say to all major countries having business relations with Pakistan that if they do business with Islamabad, they cannot come to the Indian market.

Moving out of the party line, the leaders had called for “decisive action” against terrorism and terrorists camps and assured the government of full support.

During an all -party meeting to discuss the Pahalgam attack, the government said that it is taking all measures to ensure security. It assured the leaders to take action against terrorism and its supporters.
